Landscaper Workwear Guide 2024

Landscaper Workwear Guide 2024

As a landscaper in the UK, you’ll be used to working in all kinds of weather conditions, operating heavy machinery, and putting some serious miles in daily. This diverse and physically demanding role requires workwear that is not only durable (cue the mud), but also practical.

For years we’ve provided pro landscapers with comfortable and highly rated safety boots that are easy to take on and off (essential when access is via a client’s house). Plus, recently we’ve been working on a new offer of quality, embroidered workwear - check out our latest collaboration on YouTube here (or below) to hear from happy customer Olly Gregson from Hardwood Landscapes.

Why Use Landscaper Workwear?

Landscaping is a physically demanding and often hazardous job. The right workwear can protect you from the elements, reduce the risk of injury, as well as pain and fatigue after a hard day on the job.

With more and more work being shared online via YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, there's never been a better time to kit you and your team out in professional workwear and boots.

A quality uniform will stand the test of time (as well as the British weather), so in this guide, you’ll discover the essential workwear items every landscaper, ground maintenance and gardener should consider for 2024. From work trousers and boots to embroidered/branded jackets and hats, we’ll help you choose the best gear to keep you comfortable, protected and looking professional on the job… no matter the weather!

Landscaper Work Boots

Choosing the right work boots is crucial for landscapers. The boots should provide excellent support, protection, and comfort across different terrains, plus be easy to take on and off + keep clean and dry ready for another day outdoors.

Features to look for:
  • Steel Toe Cap: Protects against heavy falling objects, standard PPE on site.
  • Scuff Cap: Highly resistant to abrasion and suited to kneeling and resting materials on the toe area of your boots, a Scuff Cap offers longer lasting protection, making it a popular choice for Landscapers
  • Slip-Resistant Soles: Ensures stability on uneven surfaces
  • Water-Resistant Leather: Helps to keep feet dry in wet conditions

Landscaping Boot Tips - Keep Your Boots In Tip Top Shape For Longer

When working outside in the UK, there's every chance your boots will end up caked in mud, dusty and wet. To ensure your boots last as long as possible, and continue to keep you on your feet day after day, here are a couple of tips:

  1. Zip sided boots? Pull the zip ALL the way down when removing your boots. Removing your boots without the zip fully down puts stress on the teeth, and could damage the zip.

  2. Brush away dirt and debris from the zip and oil regularly to keep it gliding smoothly. For more detail around this, check out our zip tips video on YouTube here for more tips on cleaning and maintaining your boots.

  3. Buy a second pair of boots. This is so that the first pair can dry (naturally, away from a heater to avoid leather damage), and you're good to go in the meantime.

Landscaper Work Trousers

Work trousers are an essential part of a landscaper’s wardrobe. They need to be tough, comfortable, and functional. Look for features like reinforced areas (those that wear away first), multiple lined pockets, and durable materials.

Features to look for:

  • Reinforced Areas: Protects against wear and tear.
  • Multiple Pockets: Provides ample storage for tools and accessories.
  • Durable Materials: Ensures longevity and resistance to damage.
